Tagging and Folksonomies in Instruction

Tagging software allows user to attach descriptive words to an item, often a web page, book, or other goods. A folksonomy is the taxonomy created by the tags in a given software.

Good things about tagging:

  • the wisdom of crowds
  • user not librarian generated
  • no rules - no controlled vocabulary
